Building Leaders The NC State Grange works to help its youth to build leadership skills, character and self-confidence. Young Grangers learn many life skills they need; especially how to be a good leader. All events focus on these skills while having fun. There are many different leadership opportunities for youth in the Grange. Whether serving on a committee or as an officer in a local Grange, all Grange youth have the opportunity to get involved! Some of these experiences also lead to travel opportunities and recognition.

NC State Grange Ambassador Program Each year, one male and one female, are chosen to represent North Carolina as the Ambassadors. These two young persons are selected for their leadership qualities, their Grange experiences and their drive to help the Grange grow. They are chosen through an application and interview process and must be willing to travel. They serve for one year and represent the North Carolina State Grange at many events including Eastern Regional Youth Conference and the National Grange Convention. Youth Ambassadors experience many exciting and rewarding moments as well as the opportunity to meet youth from other states. Being an Ambassador is achieving the top leadership position and is a special honor. |

Youth Team
The Youth Team has been around for almost as long as the Youth program itself. Each year, six Grange youth are chosen to serve on the North Carolina State Grange Youth Team. These youth are selected through an application and interview process and must be willing to travel statewide. These young people exhibit leadership skills, motivation, and enthusiasm. These youth are willing to give their time (especially during the summer) in order to help the Youth program grow. This comes from their love for the organization! The purpose of the State Grange Youth Team is to promote the Grange, represent the Grange at events throughout the year, help lead activities at these various events and help with planning Grange Camp. The Youth Team also receives the opportunity to attend the Broyhill Leadership Conference at Queens College in Charlotte, NC, as well as participate in the annual Youth Team Caravan during the summer. Caravan consists of a trip across North Carolina where the Team promotes Grange Youth programs. The Youth Team is a great opportunity for travel, to develop leadership skills, build character, learn about themselves and be involved. Youth can serve on the team for up to 2 years, but must reapply and interview each year. This is an incredible experience that many Grangers have been a part of, with memories and experiences that youth will never forget. |

Youth Officers
Youth may also be involved in leadership roles by becoming State Youth Officers. Youth elect their peers into these positions during the Winter Youth Conference. Each officer has a different responsibility and each officer grows substantially through this leadership opportunity. Youth Officers lead the Youth Drill Team and meetings at Grange Camp and State Convention. Youth officers learn more about the Grange as well as parliamentary procedure.
